How to Make a Personalised Bobo Gift Balloon
Bobo balloons are the clear, stretchy "bubble" balloons you've probably seen filled with smaller balloons, feathers or fairy lights. They make a fantastic personalised gift. Add a name or message and you have something far more special than a shop-bought balloon.
What you'll need
- A clear bobo balloon, with 20 or 24 inch the easiest size for stuffing
- Filling: small 5 inch latex balloons, confetti, feathers or LED string lights
- A balloon stuffing tool, or a large funnel for confetti
- A pump, plus ribbon, a weight or a stick to finish
- Optional: adhesive vinyl lettering for a name or message
1. Stretch the bobo first
Gently stretch the neck of the bobo balloon and inflate it a little, then let the air out. This warms up the material and makes it easier to fill without tearing.
2. Add your filling
With a stuffing tool, open the neck wide and drop in your mini balloons (inflated to around 3–4 inches) one at a time. For confetti, pour it in with a funnel before inflating. If you're adding LED lights, feed the string in and leave the battery box outside the neck.
3. Inflate and seal
Inflate the bobo with a pump until it's round and smooth but not stretched tight. Tie it off, or seal it with the clip supplied.
4. Personalise it
Apply vinyl letters for a name, age or message such as "Happy Birthday", "Welcome Baby" or "I Love You". Do this after inflating so the letters stay smooth.
5. Finish with ribbon
Tie a bow around the neck and add curling ribbon, a weight or a balloon stick so it stands up on a table.
