Balloon Decorating Tools: What You Actually Need
You can decorate with nothing but balloons and a lot of puff, but a few inexpensive tools make the job quicker, neater and far less tiring. Here's what's worth having.
A pump
Hand pumps are cheap, quiet and perfect for small jobs and modelling balloons. Electric pumps are a must for garlands and arches with 100+ balloons. Check the plug type when buying electrical items.
Decorating strip
A flexible plastic tape with a row of holes. Push the balloon knots through the holes and you have the base of a garland that holds its shape. It's the easiest way to build garlands for beginners.
Glue dots
Small, sticky dots that attach balloons to each other or to walls. Ideal for filling gaps in garlands with small balloons.
Ribbon and weights
Curling ribbon finishes helium bunches, and balloon weights stop them floating away. For tables, balloon sticks and cups hold single balloons upright.
Balloon stuffing tool
If you want to make gift balloons with things inside, a stuffing tool stretches a bobo balloon open so you can drop items in. See our bobo gift balloon guide.
Arch frames and stands
A frame makes a freestanding arch or column that doesn't need a wall. Read how to make a balloon arch with a frame.
Balloon shine spray
Latex balloons can turn cloudy over time. A balloon brightener restores the glossy finish and looks great in photos.
